Hidey-Hole Cottage

This is Hidey-Hole Cottage in Whitby. It's one of those old cottages near the middle of town, about ten minutes walk from the beach.

It sleeps six. There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms, so everyone gets a bit of space. Two doubles are on the first floor and the twin room is up another flight. That one's got table football and its own shower room, which kids tend to like. The main bathroom has a bath with a shower over it.

The stairs are the original ones. They're steep, narrow, and turn a corner. If you've got bad knees or a lot of luggage, it's worth knowing.

Downstairs, there's a living room with the original inglenook fireplace. It makes the room. The kitchen is old-fashioned but has what you need: oven, hob, microwave, washing machine. We provide all the bedding and towels.

You can bring up to two dogs. There's a small patio garden out the back.

Location is the main thing. You're right in it, on the east side. The medieval streets around here are full of shops and places to eat. The swing bridge, the harbour, and the fish and chips are all a few minutes' walk. The North York Moors National Park starts just outside town if you want to go walking.

For days out, the Abbey is at the top of the 199 steps. Scarborough is about half an hour down the coast. York is under an hour's drive if you fancy a city trip.
