Balcony Cottage is on Church Street in Whitby. It's basically opposite the church. You're right in the middle of everything, but the cottage itself is down a little snicket so it's quiet.
It sleeps three. Two bedrooms downstairs, one double and one single. There's a shower room on that floor too. The stairs inside are the cottage kind. They're steep and a bit narrow, so you need to be careful on them.
The living area is upstairs. That's so you get the view. The big glass doors open right onto a decent-sized balcony with a table and chairs. You can sit out there and watch the harbour. You see the 199 steps up to the Abbey, people wandering about, the boats going in and out. It's a good spot.
The double bedroom has its own door out to a little enclosed garden at the back. It gets the sun in the morning. There's a washing machine, towels and bedding are included, and you get the wifi.
You're two minutes from the shops and pubs. The beach is a five-minute walk. For walking, the Cleveland Way goes right from the town along the cliffs. You can walk to Sandsend along the beach if the tide's out. If you've got a car, places like Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes are about fifteen minutes away.
No pets, I'm afraid.
If you're looking for things to do further out, the North York Moors National Park website has good information. The National Trust has places nearby too, like the Abbey.
