Celebration Cottage is in the middle of Whitby, on Church Street. It's an old house, from 1657. You look out over the town towards the abbey and the sea. There's a small, enclosed patio out the front with a bench.
It sleeps seven people in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one has a separate shower. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. But you need to know about the stairs. They're the original ones. They're steep, they're spiral in parts, and they're narrow. It's just how the house is. There's a stairgate fitted at the bottom for children.
The living room has a wood burner. The kitchen is open plan with a dining area, and there's a utility room with a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog.
You're right in the centre of everything. The harbour, the shops, the fish and chip places, they're all a few minutes' walk away. You don't need the car once you're here. The beach and the Whitby Abbey ruins are close. For a good walk, the Cleveland Way coastal path starts up by the abbey.
If you drive, Robin Hood's Bay is about ten minutes south. It's a great little cove with a steep road down to it. The North York Moors are about twenty minutes inland for a different kind of walk. The North York Moors National Park website has walking routes and information. For the abbey and other local history, English Heritage is useful.
The facilities are all listed, but to summarise: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine, wood burner, enclosed patio. The garden opposite is a public garden, an Alice in Wonderland theme, which is a bit different.
