Harebell

Harebell is a cottage on a farm just outside Whitby. It's about two miles from the town centre. The view from the upstairs is what it's about. You look out over the fields to the sea. You get the coast path between there and the cliffs.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms downstairs, one twin and one double. There's a shower room downstairs too. The living area is upstairs. That's the upside-down layout they mention. It's so you get the view. It's open plan, with a kitchen, a table, and a sofa and chairs. The beams are low in places so watch your head.

It's a 4 Star property, so it's well kept. There's a washing machine, towels and bedding are included, and there's parking right outside. No pets. We have a cot and highchair if you need them.

The farm is quiet. You can walk down to Saltwick Bay in about ten minutes. The Cleveland Way path is right there for longer walks. You can walk all the way into Whitby or the other way to Robin Hood's Bay. The old railway line, the Cinder Track, is also nearby for cycling or a level walk.

Whitby is a proper fishing town. It's got the Abbey, the harbour, and all the usual shops and places to eat. Robin Hood's Bay is about ten minutes by car. It's that steep, cobbled village right on the sea. Scarborough is about a forty minute drive down the coast.

If you want to explore the area, the North York Moors National Park website is useful. The National Trust looks after some of the coastline nearby too.
