Fairhead Cottage is on our working farm between Grosmont and Goathland. It's made from the local yellow sandstone you see round here. It's a one-bedroom place, so it sleeps two.
The layout is upside down. You go in on the ground floor and that's where the bedroom is. It has a king-size bed and an ensuite shower. Upstairs is the living space: kitchen, dining area, and a sofa with a TV. The windows up there look out over the fields and the moor.
It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. You've got a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking right outside. We include all the bedding and towels. You can bring up to two dogs.
You're on a farm, so you'll see sheep. Sometimes you hear tractors. It's quiet at night.
Grosmont village is about a ten-minute walk down the lane. There's a pub and a couple of tea rooms there. The heritage steam railway station is in the village. You can get the train to Whitby or just go up to Goathland. It's a nice way to see the moor without driving.
For walking, you're right on the edge of the moor. You can step out the door and go straight up onto the paths. The Cleveland Way is close by if you want to follow the coast. Goathland, where they filmed bits of Heartbeat, is about two miles away.
Whitby is a twenty-minute drive. You've got the abbey, the harbour, and all the usual seaside things. Pickering and the main North York Moors Railway station is about a twenty-five minute drive the other way.
