Apartment 16

This is Apartment 16, in Astor House. It's in Torquay, on the hill up from the harbour. The building is a big Victorian villa that's been split into flats. Ours is on one of the upper floors.

It’s a one-bedroom place, sleeps three. One bathroom. The bed's a double and there's a single sofa bed in the living room. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is about right. It's clean, it's modern, it works.

The main thing is the view. Because we're up the hill and south-facing, you can see the sea from the living room window. It's a proper view, not just a sliver.

You're about a five minute walk down to the harbour and the main beaches. The town centre's the same. There's a shop very close and a couple of pubs and restaurants a short walk away.

As part of the stay, you get membership for the leisure club at the Imperial Hotel. That means you can use their indoor pool and gym if you want to.

For things to do, you're right in the middle of it. Paignton Zoo is about a mile away. Kent's Cavern and the model village are in Torquay itself. The coastal path is on your doorstep for walks.

If you drive, you can get to a lot places quite easily. Totnes and Dartington Hall are under half an hour. Dartmouth, Dartmoor, and Exeter are all within an hour. Paignton has the steam railway and you can get boat trips from the harbour.

Inside, it's got the usual stuff: WiFi, TV, a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and a highchair if you need them. There's parking on site.

A few links if you're planning trips out: National Trust Devon, Dartmoor National Park, and The English Riviera.
