Lavender is in Maidencombe, just outside Torquay. It's on the coastal road, above the beach. You'll see the sea from the gardens.
It's a first-floor flat. You go through the main reception to get to it, which is our entrance. The place is above where we live, but you've got your own front door and it's separate. You have the use of about an acre of garden.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. It's a 5 Star place, so it's well-equipped and comfortable. Everything is on one floor once you're up there.
Maidencombe beach is about a ten minute walk down the hill. It's a sheltered cove. The Thatched Tavern pub in the village is about the same distance. It does food.
For a bigger beach, Oddicombe is close. The walk down is very steep through the woods. A lot of people use the Babbacombe Cliff Railway instead. It's a funicular that's been running since the 1920s. It takes you right to the sand.
Torquay harbour and town centre are about two miles away, so five minutes in the car. That's where you'll find most of the shops and the Living Coasts attraction. The coastal path runs right past the property if you want to walk it.
In terms of things to do, there's Babbacombe Model Village nearby. Dartmouth, Totnes, and Exeter are all within a 30 minute drive. Plymouth and Dartmoor are about an hour. Plenty of National Trust places around too, like Coleton Fishacre.
Facilities: it's got a dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. All bedding and towels are included. The electricity is in the rent. No pets, sorry.
