The Old Toll House
The Old Toll House is in Shaldon, right in the middle of the village. It's a three-storey townhouse. It sleeps eight, but it's in three bedrooms. One is a kingsize, one's a double, and the third has two double beds, so it's good for kids or friends who don't mind sharing.
It's got a 4 Star rating. It's modern inside and feels quite spacious, but it's still cosy.
The layout is a bit upside down. You come in on the ground floor to the kitchen and a dining area. Upstairs on the first floor is the living room, then up again to the second floor for the bedrooms and the main bathroom. There's a separate toilet on the first floor too. The stairs are standard.
You get a sunny courtyard garden out the back, and a utility room off the kitchen with the washing machine.
The big thing here is the parking. You get an off-road space right outside. That's unusual for Shaldon. The lanes are very narrow and most places don't have dedicated parking, so this is a real plus.
It's a two-minute walk to the beach. Shaldon's a proper village with pubs and cafes, so you don't need the car much once you're here. Teignmouth is just across the estuary, you can walk it via the foot tunnel or get the ferry.
If you want to explore, the English Riviera (Torquay, Brixham) is about a 20-30 minute drive. Dartmoor is under half an hour. Dartmouth and Salcombe are a bit further, maybe an hour.
Facilities wise: all the bedding and towels are included. There's WiFi, a Smart TV, dishwasher, washing machine. It's family friendly, we've got a cot, highchair and stairgate if you need them. You can bring two dogs.
