Twelve Oaks Farmhouse is a place I've run for a while now. It's the original farmhouse on our working beef farm here in Teigngrace. The building dates from about 1640. You'll get views over our fields and down to the River Teign. It's peaceful, but you're not totally isolated.
The farmhouse sleeps ten people. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. It's a big, solid old house. You should be aware the ceilings are low in some of the upstairs rooms. That's just how it was built.
You're welcome to bring one well-behaved dog. There's a fenced half-acre field specifically for walking dogs. We've also got chickens roaming around, so you might find fresh eggs for sale.
On the farm, there's a heated outdoor swimming pool that's shared with the other cottages here. It's open in the summer months. There are also two coarse fishing lakes if that's your thing. The kids' play area is handy if you have children.
Inside, you've got a woodburning stove for colder evenings, a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and TV. All bedding and towels are included. There's plenty of parking right outside.
The nearest shop and pub are about a mile away in the village. They're both fine for what you need.
For days out, you're in a good spot. Dartmoor is about a twenty-minute drive north. The coast at Teignmouth or Dawlish is about fifteen minutes the other way. For a bigger beach day, Paignton and Goodrington Sands are within half an hour.
If you're looking for local history or walks, the National Trust has several properties nearby, like Castle Drogo. The Dartmoor National Park website is useful for planning walks or checking conditions.
