Shewte Farm

This is Shewte Farm, near Bovey Tracey. It's an old stone barn that's been done up. It's listed, so the walls are thick and the windows are deep. You get views straight out over Dartmoor from the big window in the main room.

It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable. Underfloor heating throughout, and a wood burner. The floors are stone, so it can feel cool in summer, which is nice.

You're on its own here, in the middle of 80 acres. It's very quiet. You'll see buzzards, maybe deer. There's a separate games barn with a table tennis table, and a tree house the kids can use.

Bovey Tracey is about a mile and a half away for shops. There's a good deli, a butcher. For a proper beach, you're looking at about a 25 minute drive to the coast at Teignmouth or Dawlish Warren.

You're right on the edge of Dartmoor. You can walk straight out from the door onto the moor. For a organised day out, National Trust Dartmoor has good walking guides. The Dartmoor National Park site has maps and information.

The place has the things you'd expect: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine. All bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. We allow one well-behaved dog.
