Shewte Farm

This is Shewte Farm. It's a converted stone barn about a mile and a half outside Bovey Tracey. It's on our land, in the middle of about 80 acres of fields and woods. The view from the big window is straight out over Dartmoor.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's a nice place. Stone floors, underfloor heating, a wood burner. We've put some old furniture in there, nothing too precious. The beds are good and the linen is decent.

Because it's an old barn, the stairs are open-tread and a bit steep. Something to be aware of if you've got very small children or anyone unsteady on their feet.

You get the place to yourselves, plus there's a games barn next door with a table tennis table and things. The kids like the treehouse in the garden.

It's quiet here. You'll see buzzards, maybe deer. You can walk straight out from the door onto the moor, or into the National Trust land at Parke. Bovey Tracey is close for shops. There's a good deli, a butcher, a couple of cafes. The town has what you need.

The coast is about half an hour's drive. Teignmouth or Dawlish for a proper beach day. For walking, you're right on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. The Overbeck's and Coleton Fishacre are good for a National Trust visit, also about half an hour away.

Facilities: it's all there. Washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, TV. Parking for a couple of cars right outside. Towels and bedding are included. We accept one well-behaved dog.
