Wisteria
The place is called Wisteria. It’s a small cottage, one of three in a row next to an old farmyard. It’s on our smallholding, so you’ll see our house and the sheep and chickens. There’s also a small certified caravan site here, just so you know.
It’s just for two people really. One bedroom and one bathroom. The whole place is open plan downstairs, so the living area, kitchen and dining bit are all in one room. It’s got a patio area with a table outside.
It’s warm. We’ve put in air source heat pumps and solar panels. That makes it eco-friendly and the heating bills are sorted.
You’re right on the edge of Dartmoor. You can walk straight from the gate onto the moor. The wild ponies are up there. There’s a shop and a pub about a mile away in Bovey Tracey. The town’s got the basics.
For a day out, Castle Drogo is about ten minutes away. It’s a National Trust place. Lydford Gorge is another good one, about twenty minutes. Or you can drive into Exeter in under half an hour if you want a city day.
It’s got a 4 Star rating. That means it’s comfortable and well equipped. The facilities are pretty standard: wifi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog. There’s parking right outside.
