Scrumpy Barn

Scrumpy Barn is one of three holiday barns on our dairy farm just outside Luton, in Devon. It's our place, we live and work here. The lane past it is quiet.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. The main living area is open plan. You get a private patio area with a table and chairs. The view from there is across our fields, it's nice in the evening.

The stairs are a bit steep, like most barn conversions. We've put a stairgate at the top. There's a washing machine, a cot and a highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. We've also got a games room with a pool table in one of the other barns, which guests are welcome to use.

The village pub is about 200 yards down the lane. They do food. The nearest shop is two miles away in Ipplepen.

You can walk around the farm. There are public footpaths through it. The cows go in for milking twice a day, around 5 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon, if you want to watch. It's a working farm, so there's tractor noise sometimes during the day.

Teignmouth beach is about a 15 minute drive. Dawlish Warren is a bit further, maybe 25 minutes. For a proper day out, Dartmoor is about a 30 minute drive. Good for walking. Dartmoor National Park has all the information.

Exeter and Plymouth are both within half an hour. Exeter has the cathedral and the quay. Plymouth has the Barbican and the Hoe. If you like Agatha Christie, her holiday home at Greenway is near Dartmouth, about 45 minutes away. It's run by the National Trust.

Parking is right outside the barn. No pets, sorry. We have two other barns, Hay Rick and Milk Churn, which can be booked together if you're a bigger group.
