This is Coastguard Cottage. It's in Dawlish, right next to the sea wall. The view is the main thing. You look straight out over the estuary.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after. Everything's on one floor, which is handy.
The living area is all open plan. Kitchen, sofa, dining table, all in one room. There's a TV and WiFi. The patio doors lead out to the garden. That garden is enclosed, but the wall on the sea side is a straight drop down to the railway line, so you need to be careful. It's not suitable for children, so we don't allow anyone under 16.
You're about ten metres back from the main road, so there's a bit of road noise sometimes, but you're also up high enough that the big waves don't come over. The sea wall does its job. There's a storeroom for bikes and beach gear.
Dawlish town centre is a five minute walk. There are shops, cafes, and a few pubs. The beach is right there. Dawlish Warren is along the coast, good for sand dunes and birdwatching.
If you want to walk or cycle, the path goes along the coast to Teignmouth, or inland along the River Exe towards Exeter. Driving, you can get to Exeter, Torquay, or Dartmoor in about half an hour.
Facilities: all bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine. Parking is on the road. Sorry, no pets.
