Orestone House

Orestone House is just outside Teignmouth, up on the hill with a view of the sea. It's a big house, modern inside, and it sleeps ten. That's because it's actually two apartments, one on top of the other. It works well for a couple of families or a group who want to be together but also have their own space to disappear to.

There are four bedrooms, and each one has its own bathroom, which stops any arguments. It's got a 5 Star rating, so everything is in good order and well-maintained.

You get two living rooms, one on each floor. Both have sliding doors out onto a terrace. The main kitchen is upstairs, open plan with the dining and living area. There's a second, smaller kitchen downstairs in the lower apartment. There's a garden with a lawn, and those two terraces I mentioned. Good for sitting out with a drink.

Practical things: there’s parking on the drive and an electric vehicle charger. You've got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. We can provide a cot and a highchair. One well-behaved dog is allowed.

Location is straightforward. You're about a 15-minute walk down the hill into the middle of Teignmouth. It's a proper seaside town with a long sandy beach, a pier, and the usual shops and cafes. The South West Coast Path runs right past the bottom of the hill. You can walk along the coast to Dawlish one way or towards Labrador Bay the other.

Within half an hour's drive you've got a lot. Dawlish Warren for the nature reserve and big beach. Exeter for shopping and the cathedral. The resorts at Torquay and Paignton are that way too. For a change, you can drive up onto Dartmoor in well under 30 minutes. If you want a historical day out, Powderham Castle is just the other side of the estuary.
