The Cider Barn
The Cider Barn is on the Ashcombe Estate, near Dawlish. It sleeps sixteen, eight bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The official rating is 5 Star, which means it's very well equipped and finished.
The main thing is the size. It's a converted barn, so it's big, good for groups and families who want to be together without being on top of each other. There's a garden and your own outdoor swimming pool for the summer months. It has a woodburning stove for cooler evenings.
Being on the estate means you can walk straight out into the valley. The indoor pool and sauna at Woodhouse Farm are a short walk away, and there's an outdoor play area for kids. The Ashcombe Adventure Centre is down the lane if you want activities like clay shooting or quad biking, but you pay extra for that.
In terms of location, the coast at Dawlish Warren is about a ten minute drive. Exeter is twenty minutes the other way. Dartmoor National Park is also about twenty minutes. For a bigger day out, you can get to Torquay or Greenway, which was Agatha Christie's house, in roughly half an hour.
Facilities are what you'd expect for a big group: plenty of parking, washing machine, dishwasher, bedding and towels included. There's a games room and fast wifi. We accept up to two dogs.
Like most places, the big supermarkets deliver here. The nearest proper shops are in Dawlish, about three miles away.
