Freedom

This is Freedom. It's one of the cottages on the Ashcombe estate, which is just outside the village of Ashcombe in Devon. The setting is a big, quiet valley.

The cottage sleeps seven. There are three bedrooms and each one has its own bathroom. It's a 4-star place, so it's comfortable and in good order.

You're booking just the cottage, but you share access to the estate's main facilities. There's a heated indoor pool and a sauna about a five minute walk away at Woodhouse Farm. The kids' playground is there too. In the summer, some of the other bigger cottages on the estate have outdoor pools you can use.

On the estate there's the Ashcombe Adventure Centre, which is down the lane. You can book things like quad biking and clay shooting there, but it's an extra cost. There's also a woodland activity club for children.

The local pub is the Ashcombe Village Club. It's not open every night, but when it is, it's a friendly spot.

We're about three miles from the coast at Dawlish. For a good beach day, Teignmouth or Shaldon are a short drive. Dartmouth is about twenty minutes away by car. You can get steam train rides from Kingswear to Paignton.

Inland, you're looking at about twenty minutes to get to the edge of Dartmoor. Exeter is also about twenty minutes in the other direction.

At the cottage, it has a wood burning stove, a washing machine, and WiFi. All the bedding and towels are included. There's a travel cot and a highchair if you need them. You can park right outside.
