Thatched Cottage is in Kingsteignton, which is just outside Newton Abbot. It's a detached house. It used to be a restaurant, so the main room downstairs is very big. It sleeps twelve, in six bedrooms. Each bedroom has a TV. There are five bathrooms, which helps with a group that size.
It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's well-equipped and comfortable. The stairs are steep and a bit narrow in places, like you'd expect in an old building.
The garden is walled, so it's fully enclosed. There's a hot tub out there that fits five people, a barbecue, and some picnic benches. It's a good space if you've got dogs.
Downstairs, there's a separate games room. It's got a pool table, a dartboard, and one of those old fruit machine games.
There's a shop and a pub about five minutes walk away. The town has what you need. You can walk into Newton Abbot along the path through Hackney Marshes. Newton Abbot has the racecourse, and all the usual shops and supermarkets.
The coast is about ten minutes in the car. Teignmouth is closest, then Torquay and Paignton. The South West Coast Path is all along there. Dartmoor is about twenty minutes drive the other way. Good for walking and seeing the tors. You can get to the edge of the moor even quicker.
For bigger days out, Paignton Zoo is popular. Crealy Adventure Park is about half an hour away. The National Trust have a few places nearby, like some coastline and parkland. The Dartmoor National Park website is good for planning walks.
Facilities: everything listed is included. Bedding, towels, WiFi, parking for a few cars. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, cot and highchair if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs.
