Indio Lake itself is quiet. You can fish there if you have a license. It's a short walk into Bovey Tracey, which has a few shops, cafes, and pubs. The local pub is about a ten-minute walk.
You're right on the doorstep of Dartmoor National Park. You can drive onto the moor in a few minutes, or there are walking paths from nearby. For a bigger town, Newton Abbot is about a fifteen-minute drive. The coast at Torquay is roughly half an hour.
