Cliff Lodge is in Maidencombe, just outside Torquay. It's a detached house, sleeps twelve, with six bedrooms and five bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and in good order.
The main thing is the view. You look directly out to sea from the balconies and several rooms. They're proper glass balconies, so you get the full panorama.
There's a separate pool house with a heated indoor swimming pool, a sauna, and a sunken jacuzzi outside on the deck. The games room has a full-size snooker table, table football, a bar with a fridge, and a large TV. A Sonos system runs through the pool and games areas.
Inside the house, the kitchen is fully equipped. You can eat in the dining room or the conservatory, which also has the sea view. The bedrooms are all individually decorated. Some have en-suites, balconies, or sea views. All bedding and towels are included.
A couple of things to note plainly. The property grounds are substantial but on a slope. There are open, steep, spiral, or narrow stairs in places. We accept up to two dogs.
Maidencombe village has a local pub. The South West Coast Path is a short walk from the house. Teignmouth and Shaldon are about five minutes drive. Torquay centre is three miles, and Babbacombe is about a mile and a half.
For days out, the National Trust Devon website is useful, as is the English Riviera site for local attractions. Within half an hour you can be in Dartmoor National Park or Totnes.
Facilities include on-site parking, a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a cot and highchair. There's a garden and a BBQ.
