Longcroft House

Longcroft House is in Torquay, in an area called The Lincombes. It's a big detached villa from the Victorian period. It's listed, so it has that character. It sleeps twelve people in five bedrooms.

The house is on a steep hill overlooking the sea. The gardens are over an acre, mostly lawn with some gravel paths. You get a clear view of the water from several rooms and from the terrace. There's plenty of parking on the drive.

Inside, the rooms are big with high ceilings. The stairs are the original ones, quite grand but also quite steep. The kitchen has a range cooker and a table that seats twelve. There's a separate dining room, a main living room with a large bay window, and a smaller TV room. There's also a garden room.

For bedrooms, there are two double rooms with en-suites, one double with a toilet and sink just outside on the landing, a twin room with its own shower room, and a room with four single beds that's good for kids, which also has an en-suite. That makes four bathrooms in total. All the bedding and towels are included.

The house is wheelchair accessible at the entrance, but the garden is on a slope and there are those stairs inside, so it's not fully accessible throughout.

You're about a ten to fifteen minute walk down the hill to Meadfoot Beach. It's a nice beach, a Blue Flag one. Agatha Christie used to swim there as a child. There's a cafe and the Osborne Hotel for food. Walking back up is quite a climb.

There's a local shop and a pub about half a mile away. More restaurants and the town centre are a short drive.

In terms of things to do, you're right on the South West Coast Path for walking. The beach is good for swimming and paddling. For a bigger day out, Brixham, Paignton, and Dartmouth are all within about half an hour by car. Dartmoor is about forty minutes away for walking.

The property is rated 5 Star. It's well equipped. It has wifi, TVs, a dishwasher, washing machine, cot, highchair, and stairgate. You can bring up to two dogs.
