Oaklea Cottage is in Windermere, but just outside the main bit of town. It's a terrace cottage, so you've got neighbours on one side. It sleeps five, in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom, with a bath and a shower over it.
The living and kitchen area is open plan. It's fine for a family. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine.
There's a garage you can use. It's good for bikes or for storing paddleboards or walking gear if you've brought a lot.
It's got a 3 Star rating. That's accurate. It's clean and functional, not a show home.
You can bring two dogs. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking on the drive.
Windermere village is close, you can walk in. There are shops and cafes there. Bowness and the lake are about a mile and a half away. Ambleside is ten minutes by car.
For wider days out, you're in the middle of the Lake District. Good walking starts from the door. You can be up on the fells or by the water easily. The Lake District National Park site has maps and information. For local history, the National Trust looks after a lot of the land and houses nearby, like Wray Castle.
