The Round Window
The Round Window is in Bowness, part of the Stables Apartments. It's above former stables, so the space is in the roof. You get there by going up a metal spiral staircase from the courtyard. It sleeps two, one bedroom and one bathroom.
It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's clean and comfortable but not fancy. The main thing is the round window in the roof gable, which gives the place its name. The space is compact, but it's got everything you need.
Location is the big plus. You're less than a minute's walk from the centre of Bowness. The lake is right there. You can leave your car in the dedicated parking spot and forget about it. There's a pub about a hundred yards away.
For things to do, you can get a rowing boat or take the steamer from Bowness Bay. It goes to Ambleside and Lakeside. At Lakeside there's an aquarium and you can get a steam train on the Lakeside-Haverthwaite railway. Windermere town is a short walk up the hill, with more shops and the Beatrix Potter attraction.
If you want to walk, you can just go from the door. A gentle stroll to the lake, or proper hikes from Bowness into the fells. Kentmere valley is a good option for a quieter walk.
