Birkrigg is just outside Windermere, on the Ambleside road. It's a modern house, sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor and has its own shower room. There's another toilet down there too. The stairs are fine.
The main living area is all open plan, so it's good if you've got a group. There's a wood burning stove, a decent sized kitchen with a breakfast bar, and a table for eating. It's got the things you'd expect: dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi. There's an electric vehicle charger on the drive.
The garden is paved, with a table and chairs. There's a BBQ. You can park two, maybe three cars on the drive if you're careful.
Location is the main thing. You're halfway between Windermere and Bowness, so you can walk to either in about fifteen minutes. Both have shops, pubs, and places to eat. The lake is down in Bowness.
For things to do, you're right in the middle of it. You can get a boat from Bowness, or walk up Orrest Head for the view. The Lake District National Park site has all the walking routes. The National Trust looks after a lot of the local land, like Townend and Fell Foot Park. National Trust Lake District.
Further out, within half an hour you can get to Ambleside, Grasmere, or Coniston. Keswick and Ullswater are a bit further. The World of Beatrix Potter is in Bowness if you've got children.
You can bring one dog. We supply bedding and towels. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
