Highwood Cottage is in Ambleside. It's a detached former coach house. You can walk into the town centre in about ten minutes.
The cottage is for two people. One bedroom with a double bed, one bathroom with a walk-in shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. It’s all on the ground floor, which is handy. There’s a step up into the property from the parking spot.
Inside it’s open plan. Kitchen, dining table, and a sofa. The French doors go out to a small, enclosed garden. The view from the back over Lake Windermere is really nice.
Ambleside has the usual Lake District things. Shops, pubs, a couple of small cinemas. The Stagshaw Garden is a short walk away. Stock Ghyll Force, the waterfall, is in the town as well.
For the lake, Waterhead Pier is close by. You can get ferries from there to Bowness or Lakeside. If you want to try something else, Lake District National Park has all the information for activities.
The facilities are what you'd expect. Washing machine, dishwasher, parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. The WiFi works. No pets.
