Sheilings is on the lower slopes of Loughrigg Fell, about two miles from Ambleside. It's a detached house. The gardens are mature, so they're established and private. There's a patio on the side that gets the sun most of the afternoon. It looks out over the valley.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bedroom and a bathroom are on the ground floor. The other two bedrooms and a shower room are upstairs. It's a 4 Star place, so it's well kept and comfortable. The open plan living area downstairs is bright because of the big windows.
There's a wood burning stove. The kitchen has a dishwasher. The utility room has a washer and dryer, and you can get into it from the patio, which is useful if you've been out walking. All bedding and towels are included. There's parking for two cars on the drive.
You can bring two dogs. The garden is enclosed, but it's not completely escape-proof if you have a real Houdini.
The local pub, about half a mile away, does food. Ambleside is two and a half miles for shops and more places to eat.
For walking, you can start right from the door. Loughrigg Tarn and Elterwater are close. For bigger walks, the Langdale Pikes and Fairfield Horseshoe are within a short drive. You're about two and a half miles from Lake Windermere. The steamers from there go to Bowness and Lakeside.
If you need a wet weather idea, Go Ape at Grizedale Forest is about a 20-minute drive. Ambleside, Windermere, and Bowness are all within a 15 to 20 minute drive for restaurants and shops.
