Tottle Bank
Tottle Bank is in Ambleside, in an area called The Falls. It’s a terraced cottage, one of a row. It’s on three floors, so there are a fair few stairs to climb.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It’s got a 4 Star rating. It’s well looked after and feels more modern inside than some cottages round here.
The main thing is the location. You’re about a five minute walk from the centre of Ambleside, so you can leave the car. Out the back, you look onto Stockghyll Woods. You can hear the stream, which is nice with the window open.
Ambleside has all the usual stuff: shops, cafes, pubs, and a couple of small cinemas. There’s a park by the river with a playground. You can walk down to Waterhead on Lake Windermere, where the Roman Fort ruins are.
If you drive, Grasmere is about ten minutes away. Coniston Water and Hawkshead are within twenty minutes. For a bigger trip, the Wordsworth houses over in Cockermouth are about half an hour. The Lake District National Park website is good for planning walks.
In the cottage: there’s a dishwasher, a washing machine, wifi, and parking on site. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot if you need one. No pets, sorry.
