Gilbert Scar Foot is in Ambleside. It's about a five minute walk into the town centre from here.
The house sleeps eight. There are four bedrooms and each one has its own bathroom. That's quite useful with a full group. It's got a 4 Star rating.
You come in through a sunroom, which is handy for boots. The main room is open plan, so the kitchen, dining area and living space are all together. It works for a group.
The stairs to the top floor are a typical cottage staircase. They're a bit steeper and turn a corner.
Ambleside has everything you need. Shops, pubs, restaurants. There are two cinemas. The Stagshaw Garden is a short walk away if you want a quieter stroll.
For the lake, Waterhead Pier is close. You can get the ferry from there to Bowness or Lakeside. You can also hire boats.
A 30 minute drive gets you to a lot of places. Grasmere, Coniston, and Langdale are all within that. For a bigger trip, Keswick is about 40 minutes.
The house has a garden and parking on site. It's wheelchair accessible to get in, but the bedrooms are on the first and second floors. We accept two dogs.
If you're planning walks or days out, these sites are useful: Lake District National Park and National Trust Lake District.
