New House

New House is in Windermere. It's on a quiet residential road, about halfway between Windermere town and Bowness-on-Windermere. You can walk to either place in a few minutes. Turn left or right at the end of the road.

It's a large, detached house built in the 1990s. Sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms. It has a 4 Star rating.

The owners have done it up to a high standard. There are leather sofas, an open fire, and good quality appliances in the kitchen. The bedding is all duck down with Egyptian cotton sheets. It feels quite luxurious.

One of the bedrooms has a separate galleried seating area. The stairs are worth mentioning. Some are open, some are steep, and there's a spiral staircase. Just so you know.

Facilities are all there: parking, a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and an enclosed garden. We allow one well-behaved dog. A cot and highchair are available.

For a big lake, Windermere is obviously right there. For walking, the National Trust manages a lot of the local fells and coastline. For wider information, Lake District National Park is the official site.

Within about half an hour you can drive to Ambleside, Grasmere, or down to the southern end of the lake near Newby Bridge. Keswick and the northern fells are about 40 minutes away.
