Gardeners Cottage is in Near Sawrey, just outside Hawkshead. It's a detached place, sleeps two, one bedroom. It's got a four-star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-fitted.
The main living space is open plan, with the bed in the same room. There are three steps down to the kitchen area inside. The ceiling has Velux windows so it's quite light.
The bathroom is a shower room with a good-sized shower. Parking is right outside. There's an outhouse with a washing machine, which you share with the apartment next door.
You can walk into the village in a couple of minutes. The pub, the Tower Bank Arms, is about a five-minute walk. They do food. Beatrix Potter's house, Hill Top, is also in the village, run by the National Trust.
Hawkshead is two miles away for shops, cafes, and more pubs. The Windermere car ferry is a short drive and takes you over to Bowness. You can get on the lake steamers from there or from Ambleside. Grizedale Forest is close by for walking and cycling.
The cottage is on the level and has a wheelchair accessible entrance, though there are those internal steps down to the kitchen. Two well-behaved pets are welcome. All bedding and towels are included.
