Bowness Retreat

Bowness Retreat is in Storrs, just outside Bowness. It's a modern house, built as a holiday home, so everything works properly. It sleeps six, has three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped.

The house is on a slope. The main living floor is the middle one. That's where the kitchen, dining area, and sitting room are. The back doors from here open straight onto a small, enclosed patio. It gets the sun in the morning. The bedrooms are all on the top floor. The two main ones have king-size beds. The third room has a single bed with a pull-out trundle underneath, so it's fine for two kids. The bathroom has a shower over the bath.

Downstairs on the ground floor there's a utility room with a washer and dryer, and the garage. You can park on the drive. The garage is useful for storing bikes or kayaks.

Location is straightforward. You're about a ten minute walk from the lake shore near Ferry Nab. Bowness centre, with its shops and restaurants, is about a mile away. You can walk it or drive in a few minutes.

From here you can get to most places easily. Windermere town and Ambleside are a short drive north. Going south, you have Newby Bridge and the Lakeside railway. The car ferry to Hawkshead and Coniston is also nearby.

The facilities are all there: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine, towels included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. We take pets, up to three.

For planning days out, these sites are useful: Lake District National Park and National Trust Lake District.
