Campbell Cottage

Campbell Cottage is in Windermere village. It's a proper Lakeland cottage, so it's stone-built and on a slope. That means the third bedroom is in the cellar. It's got a low ceiling down there and a king-size bed. Just so you know.

It sleeps four. Three bedrooms, one bathroom upstairs with a bath and a shower over it. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable, not fancy. There are two wood burners, one in the lounge and one in the dining room. They make it very cosy in the cooler months.

You get a private patio out the back. It's enclosed, so it's fine for dogs. We take up to two pets.

Windermere village has shops, pubs, and cafes all within a few minutes' walk. Bowness-on-Windermere is about a mile down the hill. That's where you get to the lake itself for boat trips and watersports. You can hire kayaks, paddleboards, that sort of thing.

For a day out, the National Trust has a lot of places nearby like Hill Top. The Lake District National Park site is good for walking routes. You're close to Ambleside, Grasmere, and Hawkshead, all within a 20 minute drive. For steam trains, the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway is about a 15 minute drive.

Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and all bedding and towels. Parking is on the street outside.
