Shambles Cottage
Shambles Cottage is in Ambleside, down a quiet back street. It's a terraced cottage, slate-fronted like a lot of them around here. You can walk into the centre of Ambleside in about a minute, which is handy.
It sleeps four people in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and clean. It's not a show home.
There's a living room with a sofa and a separate sitting room if someone wants a bit of quiet. The kitchen has what you need to cook. There's a wooden table in there to eat at.
Because it's an old cottage, the stairs are steep. You'll need to mind your head a bit on the way up. The street outside is quiet, but you're very close to everything. The closest restaurant is about 25 yards away. There's a pub a few minutes walk, and shops are nearby.
From here, you can walk to Stockghyll Falls or see Bridge House without needing the car. If you want to explore, you can get buses or take the ferry across Windermere from Waterhead, which is close by. Grasmere village is a short drive away.
For walkers, you're right in the middle of it. Loughrigg Fell is basically out the window. You can get onto plenty of paths from the town.
The facilities include a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. The electricity is part of the price. Sorry, no pets.
