The Ambleside Suite
The Ambleside Suite is in Ambleside, in the Lake District. It's an apartment on the first floor of a big old house. The house is part of a private estate called Loughrigg Brow.
You get two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It sleeps four. The rating is four star, so it's comfortable and well looked after. There's a lift, which is handy if stairs are tricky.
The private drive up to it is steep. It has electric gates. Once you're there, it's quiet. The views from the windows are good, you look out over the garden and the fells. The Fairfield Horseshoe is right there.
It's about a ten minute walk down into Ambleside village centre, through the park. You can start walks from the door up Loughrigg Fell or towards Rydal and Grasmere. The estate has about ten acres of grounds with woodland paths. There's an all-weather tennis court you can use.
For facilities, you've got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi and parking. Bedding is included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.
Ambleside has shops, cafes and pubs. Windermere is about ten minutes by car. For bigger trips, National Trust Lake District properties like Wordsworth House in Cockermouth or Hill Top are within half an hour. The Lake District National Park site is useful for planning.
