Tarnside
Tarnside is an apartment on the first floor of a building. It's near Ambleside and Grasmere, about three miles either way. You're up in Little Loughrigg, so you're surrounded by fells straight away. It's quiet.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's well equipped and comfortable. The living area is open plan with a stove and doors out to a balcony. The balcony faces south, looks over a little private tarn and you can see the Langdale Pikes from there.
The building is set in a couple of acres of shared grounds, mostly woodland. You'll hear the stream. There's parking.
Now, the stairs. They're a proper, old spiral staircase. They're steep and a bit narrow. Just take your time.
There's a pub about half a mile down the road that serves food. The nearest shop is in Ambleside, so you'll drive for supplies.
For getting out, you can walk straight from the door onto the fells. Loughrigg Fell is right there. Ambleside and Grasmere are ten minutes by car. Windermere is about three miles for the lake, and Coniston is a bit further if you want to go on the water. The National Trust has loads of places nearby, like Wray Castle. The Lake District National Park site is useful for walking routes.
Inside, it's got what you'd need: dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets.
