Woodside Cottage is in Thickholme, between Windermere and Ambleside. It's part of a converted barn in the grounds of Merewood Lodge. It sleeps four, in two bedrooms.
It's got a 4 Star rating. The place is really well looked after. It feels quite new inside. Everything's very clean and works properly.
The main living space is upstairs. That's where the kitchen, dining, and sitting area is. It's all open plan. The view from there is the best bit, straight down to Windermere and the fells. There's a decked area outside that level too, so you can sit out with the same view.
One double bedroom is on the ground floor, with its own shower room. The second bedroom is on the top floor. It can be set up as twin beds or a super king. There's a family bathroom on that floor as well. Both bathrooms have walk-in showers.
The stairs are fine, they're just a bit narrow in places. There's a small garden and a deck at the back. Parking is for one car right outside, and you can fit another in the visitor car park.
You're a couple of miles from Ambleside one way and Windermere the other. There's a bus stop at the bottom of the road if you don't want to drive. A five minute walk gets you to the Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole. They've got a cafe, gardens, and you can hire boats or bikes from there. The towns have all the shops and pubs you'd expect.
For walks, you can get straight onto the lanes and paths from the side of the property. You don't need to drive to start a good walk.
The cottage has wifi, a TV, a dishwasher, and a washer/dryer. All bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
