Duckling Cottage
Duckling Cottage is on a side street in Bowness. It’s about a two minute walk to the lake shore and the main shops. You can see the steamers from the end of the road.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own shower room. That’s handy. It’s got a 4 Star rating, which means it’s well finished. It feels new inside but has the old beams and wooden floors. There’s a wood burner in the front room.
You get a small enclosed patio out the back. It’s not huge, but it’s private. There’s space in the shed for bikes if you bring them.
Bowness has everything you need: pubs, restaurants, shops. It’s busy in season. The lake is right there for walks or getting a boat. The steamer trips to Ambleside or Lakeside are a good way to see the water without driving.
For a longer walk, you can pick up the Dales Way nearby. Orla’s Wood is a nice short stroll on the edge of town. For a proper day out, the National Trust has several places nearby like Fell Foot Park at the south end of the lake. Lake District National Park has all the walking route information.
Inside, it’s got a dishwasher, washing machine, wifi and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and highchair if you need them. You can bring one dog.
We leave some tea and coffee for when you arrive. There’s also a bag of duck food. You can feed the ducks down at the bay.
