The Old Court House
The Old Court House is in the middle of Bowness. It's about a five minute walk down to the lake. You get parking for two cars, which is useful because you can leave them and walk to most things.
It sleeps ten people. Five bedrooms, all with their own bathroom. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well equipped. It used to be a police station and a courthouse, so the rooms are a good size. The stairs are normal.
There's a proper kitchen with a table. The living room has enough sofas for everyone and a fire. The dining table fits ten. There's also a small shower room downstairs, which helps when you come in from a wet walk. Outside at the front there's a picnic table.
Being in the centre, you're close to everything. The shops, cafes, restaurants, and the cinema are all on your doorstep. The lake is just down the hill. For a good view, you can walk up to Orrest Head. You can get the boat from Bowness to Ambleside or down to Lakeside.
If you drive, you can get to a lot of the Lake District within half an hour. Grasmere, Coniston Water, and Hawkshead are all close. You can walk from the door into the woods around Claife Heights.
The house has wifi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
