The Stable Nest
The Stable Nest is in the middle of Bowness. It's a ground-floor studio apartment, sleeps two. It's in an old stone stable building that's been converted. You get your own door, a small kitchen, and a dedicated parking space round the back. The parking is the main thing, really. In Bowness, that saves a lot of hassle.
It's got a 3 Star rating. It's clean and it works. The bathroom is a shower room. The ceiling is high, which makes it feel a bit more spacious than it is.
You're about a three-minute walk from the lake shore. All the shops, cafes, and restaurants in Bowness are on your doorstep, maybe 100 yards. The local pub is just there. You don't need the car for anything once you're here.
For things to do: you can get rowing boats or take the steamer on the lake. The boats go over to Ambleside and Lakeside. At Lakeside there's an aquarium and you can get the steam train. The bus and train stations are in Windermere town, which is about a mile's walk uphill, or a short bus ride.
If you want to walk, you can start from the door. A gentle stroll down to the water, or there are more serious hikes if you drive a little way out. The round window seat is a good spot to watch the world go by.
Facilities: it's all open plan. There's a TV, WiFi, a washing machine, and the bedding and towels are included. No pets.
