Orrest Head House
Orrest Head House is in Windermere village. It's a big old house from 1672. It shares a couple of acres of private garden with Orrest Head Cottage next door, which you can also book if you need more space.
It sleeps twelve people. There are five bedrooms, and they all have their own bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have baths in the room itself, overlooking the garden.
The kitchen is new and well-equipped. There's a snug with a TV off it. The main lounge has big Chesterfield sofas. The dining room has a large table that seats everyone.
There's also a bar room, which we call Josiah Brown's Bar. It's like having your own pub in the house. It's good if you're having a party or a get-together.
Outside, there's a large patio with a barbecue and seating. You can park at least ten cars on the drive.
A path from the garden leads straight up to Orrest Head. It's one of the best short walks in the Lakes. The view from the top is the first one Alfred Wainwright wrote about. You can be up there in about twenty minutes.
Windermere village is just down the hill. Bowness-on-Windermere and the lake are about a mile and a half away.
The house is 5 Star graded. That means it's a high standard. All bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a cot and highchair if you need them. You can bring up to four dogs.
