Orrest Head House

Orrest Head House is in Windermere village, right at the top end. It's old, built in 1672. We've just finished renovating it. It sleeps 12 people.

There are 5 bedrooms and they all have their own bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have baths right in the room, which look out over the garden.

Downstairs, it's good for big groups. The kitchen is new and has everything. There's a separate TV snug. The main lounge has huge sofas that can fit everyone. The dining room has a big square table that seats 16.

Then there's the bar. It's called Josiah Brown's Bar, named after an old owner. It's like having your own pub in the house. It's brilliant if you're having a celebration.

Outside, there's a large patio with a barbecue and enough seating for everyone. The grounds are shared with Orrest Head Cottage next door, but you get your own space. You can walk straight from the garden onto the path up Orrest Head. It's one of the best short walks around here for the view.

You can park about 10 cars on the drive. There's an electric vehicle charger.

For facilities, it's all there. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, woodburning stove. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. You can bring up to 4 dogs.

From here, you can walk into Windermere town for shops and pubs. Bowness and the lake are about a 20 minute walk downhill, or a couple of minutes in the car. Ambleside is roughly a 10 minute drive, and Grasmere about 20 minutes.
