Tower House

Tower House is in Ambleside. It's part of the old church, so you're literally staying in the church building. The tower's still there. It's on Chapel Hill, which is quiet, but you're only a few minutes' walk from the shops.

It sleeps five in three bedrooms and has two bathrooms. It's a 3 Star place, so it's clean and comfortable but not posh. The layout is over three floors. The stairs are standard for an old building.

The top bedroom is a twin. It's got a low, arched window that looks out over the roof towards the fells. Kids tend to like it. The main door is the old, heavy church door with studs in it.

There's a small shared garden area out the front. Parking is on site for one car. You can bring one dog. It has the usual things: WiFi, a washing machine, a dishwasher, towels and bedding are provided.

A pub and a restaurant are about 150 yards away. The main shops are 250 yards. For a day out, you can walk down to Lake Windermere for boat trips. The National Trust has a few sites nearby, like Wray Castle. The Lake District National Park site has good walking routes.

If you drive, Grasmere is about ten minutes away. Coniston Water and Hawkshead are within half an hour.
