You're right in the middle of things. Shops and a restaurant are about 25 yards away. A pub is 100 yards. The lake itself is a five to ten minute walk down the hill. From there you can get on the boats or just walk along the shore.
If you want to get out, Ambleside is about a 15 minute drive north. Hawkshead is maybe 20 minutes. Kendal is about 20 minutes the other way. For a proper walk, the National Trust has loads of routes nearby. Grizedale Forest is good for cycling and trails, about a 25 minute drive.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, WiFi, a TV with Netflix and Sky. Bedding and towels are included. No pets allowed.
