Swallows Nest
Swallows Nest is in Windermere, about a minute's walk from the main shops. It's a terraced cottage, so you've got neighbours, but it's set back a bit so it's quieter than you'd think.
It sleeps six people. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, which helps when there are a few of you. One bedroom is up in the loft with its own shower. It's a 4 Star place, so it's been done up nicely.
You get a garden terrace out the back, it's enclosed. For parking, there's a space right at the cottage. If you've got more than one car, there are a few extra shared spaces at the top of the road, but it's first come first served.
The living area is all open-plan, kitchen, dining and sofa. It works well for a group. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. All the bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog.
Being right in Windermere means you can just walk out the door for a pub, a cafe, or the train station. The lake itself, Lake Windermere, is about a fifteen minute walk down the hill. You can get the boats from Bowness.
For walking, you're in the middle of it. The fells are right there. Ambleside is about ten minutes drive north, and Grasmere maybe twenty. Keswick and the northern lakes are within half an hour or so.
