This place is in Ambleside, right in the Waterhead area. It's practically on the shore of Windermere. You can walk down to the water in a minute or two.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It was our family home for years, so it's set up for a proper holiday, not just a let.
The house is on three floors. The kitchen is on the lower ground floor and it's got everything you'd need. There's a living area down there too with a TV and sofas. Two of the bedrooms are on the ground floor, and two are upstairs. There's a bathroom on each of those floors.
Out the back there's a private courtyard with seating. There's a boot room and a separate toilet in an outbuilding across the yard, which is handy if you've been out walking.
You're a short walk from the Waterhead Pier. You can get the steamer from there to Bowness or all the way down to Lakeside. From Lakeside, you can get the steam train.
Ambleside village centre is about a mile away. Plenty of shops, cafes and places to eat. Good walking starts right from the door. Stock Ghyll Force waterfall is in the town. The famous Bridge House is there too.
For a wet day, Hayes Garden World is nearby. They've got a big indoor area and a cafe.
Facilities: there's parking on site, WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and a cot and highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. There's bike storage. No pets, I'm afraid.
