Within half an hour you can drive to Ambleside, Keswick, or Langdale. The Lake District National Park site has walking routes. For historic houses, National Trust Lake District has several, like Wordsworth House in Cockermouth.
It has a five star rating. That means it's well equipped. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. It's a practical place for a group.
