Grange End Stables is in Grasmere, just off the main road that runs through the village. It's the end of a small row of cottages converted from old stables. It doesn't have a view of the fells from the windows, but you step outside and they're right there. It's a good, practical spot.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after. The wooden beams are original. They're low in a couple of places if you're tall.
You have your own parking space right by the door, which is handy. There's a small, enclosed patio area out the back with a table. It's private and gets the sun in the evening.
The village centre is a few minutes walk. There's a shop, pubs, and a few cafes. The famous gingerbread shop is there. A restaurant is about two hundred yards away.
You don't really need to drive for a walk. You can be on a path by the River Rothay in a minute, and up onto the fells not long after. For other things, it's a good base. Allan Bank is in Grasmere itself. Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's house, is about a 25 minute drive. The boats on Windermere are about a 20 minute drive away.
Facilities: there's WiFi, a washing machine, and bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a highchair if you need one.
