3 Townhead Cottages is on the edge of Grasmere village. It’s on a small working farm, so you'll see sheep and maybe some tractors. The views are really good because you’re right under Helm Crag.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. The bathroom is new as of last year. It’s rated 3 Star. It’s comfortable and clean, but not a show home. The floors are original stone flags and the beams are low in places. The stairs are cottage stairs, so they’re steep and a bit narrow.
You can walk into the village in about five minutes. There's a Co-op for groceries and a few cafés. The pub is just down the lane. The garden is yours to use and it’s enclosed.
You’re basically right on the footpaths. You can step out the door and walk up Helm Crag or around the valley. For a bigger day out, you can drive to the top of Dunmail Raise in a couple of minutes and walk from there.
Facilities: there’s a wood-burning stove, a TV, a washing machine, and parking next to the cottage. Bedding is included. We can provide a cot. No pets, sorry.
If you’re planning walks, the Lake District National Park site is useful. For local history, Wordsworth's house is in the village.
