3 Townhead Cottages is on the edge of Grasmere village. It's part of a small working farm. You get a decent view of Helm Crag and Steel Fell from here.
The cottage sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. The bathroom was put in new last year. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but not a show home. It's an old farm cottage from the 1800s. You'll see the flagstone floors and the old oak beams. The gas lights are electric now, but they kept the fittings.
You can walk into Grasmere in a few minutes. There's a Co-op for shopping and a good bakery. Plenty of places for a coffee or something to eat. The Grasmere Gingerbread shop is down there too.
It's a good spot for walking. You're right under Helm Crag, so you can start from the door. For other routes, the National Trust website is useful. The path around Grasmere lake is easy and flat. Rydal Water and the caves are a short drive away.
Ambleside is about ten minutes in the car. Keswick is maybe twenty. Both have bigger shops and more options.
For facilities: there's a wood burning stove for when it's cold, a TV, parking right outside, and an enclosed garden at the back. Bedding is included, and we can put a cot in if you need one. No pets, I'm afraid, as it's a working farm.
