Lower Sycamore Cottage
This is Lower Sycamore Cottage. It's in Ambleside, right in the middle of town. The main road goes past the front.
It's a studio apartment on the ground floor, so it's all one big room apart from the bathroom. There's a kitchen area and a bed at the far end. It sleeps two. The rating is 4 Star, so it's got everything you need, and it's kept nice.
You get your own little patio garden out the back. It's enclosed, so it's fine for a dog. We take one pet.
The location is the main thing. You can walk to everything. The bus stops for the 555 are almost outside the door. You can be at the ferry for Windermere in a few minutes. Stock Ghyll Force, which is that waterfall in the middle of town, is about a five minute walk up behind the cottage.
There are pubs and restaurants fifty yards away in every direction. The one next door does good food. It's Ambleside, so you won't go short.
For walks, you can start right from the door. The Fairfield Horseshoe is up there, or you can just wander up Loughrigg. For a longer drive, the National Trust sites at Fell Foot or Townend are within half an hour. So's Grasmere, and Coniston.
Inside, there's a decent shower room, a dishwasher, a washing machine, and a TV. There's parking for one car on the site. All the bedding and towels are included.
