The Hollies
The Hollies is in Bowness. It’s a compact place, sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It was refurbished a few years ago.
It’s on the quieter, northern edge of Bowness. You can walk into the centre in a few minutes, but you’re away from the main bustle. The Windermere ferry, which goes over to Hawkshead, is a short walk.
The cottage is level access at the front, so it’s suitable if you have mobility issues. There’s parking right there.
Everything you need is included: bedding, towels, WiFi, TV. There’s a local pub about a hundred yards away.
From here you can walk down to the lake shore, or get straight onto the footpaths. You don't really need the car if you don't want it.
If you do drive, the whole of the central Lakes is within half an hour. Ambleside, Grasmere, Coniston Water. For a longer walk or a view, the National Trust has several large estates nearby. The Lake District National Park website is good for planning.
