Bannerrigg

Bannerrigg is on a terrace in Windermere, a few minutes walk from the station. It’s a big Victorian house, built by Pugin. It sleeps sixteen, with five bedrooms, so it’s set up for families or groups sharing.

The house is a 4 Star property. It’s done well, with a lot of the original features kept. The living room has an open fire and enough seating for everyone. The dining table seats sixteen.

There are two triple rooms, two rooms with four single beds each, and a twin room. There are four bathrooms. Bedding and towels are included.

Down in the cellar, there’s a cinema room with a large screen and seating for eighteen. You can log into your own Netflix account. Outside, there’s a slate patio and an eight-seater hot tub in its own garden building. Parking is for five cars and there is an electric vehicle charger.

You can bring dogs – up to four.

For facilities, there’s a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a cot and highchair are there if needed.

Windermere village is close. Shops, cafes, and pubs are a short walk. Bowness-on-Windermere and the lake are about a mile away. The bus and train station being just round the corner makes it straightforward for people arriving from different places.

The whole of the Lake District is on your doorstep. For walking, the Langdales, the Fairfield horseshoe, and Helvellyn are all within a half hour drive. For a steamer trip on the lake, you’d go to Bowness. Towns like Ambleside, Grasmere, and Keswick are also easy to reach.
