Betsy Cottage is in Windermere. It's right in the middle of town. The shops, pubs, and the train station are all a couple of minutes walk away.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well looked after. The stairs inside are quite steep. They're typical for an old cottage.
There's a patio out the back that gets the sun in the afternoon. The garden is enclosed, so it's secure if you're bringing a dog. We allow one pet.
You can walk straight out the door up to Orrest Head. It's a good climb but the view over Lake Windermere is worth it. You can get down to Bowness and the lakeshore in about fifteen minutes on foot. The Lake District National Park site is useful for planning walks.
In Bowness you can get the lake steamers across to Ambleside or down to Lakeside. If you drive, Grasmere is about twenty minutes away. Keswick is maybe half an hour, depending on traffic.
Inside, there's a wood burning stove for cooler evenings. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding is included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is off the road, on site.
